  5. a military coup in May 1987; of cancer; in Viseisei. As Fijian
  6. head of the Indian-dominated Labor Party, Bavadra had been in
  7. office only a month before Lieut. Colonel Sitiveni Rabuka led
  8. an army takeover of the government. Fiji is drafting a
  9. constitution that will bar Indians from running the government,
  10. although they outnumber ethnic Fijians.
